Now People Can Pay Tuition Fees Through Warung Mitra Tokopedia

Indonesia, 18 February 2022 - People can now pay for education fees through the nearest warung or mom-and-pop stores in the Mitra Tokopedia ecosystem - an application that allows individuals, traditional business players such as warung, and other similar businesses to stock products and sells digital products.

“Through this convenience, we want to help maintain the continuity of education for students throughout Indonesia because Tokopedia believes that a better education will lead to a better life,” said Head of New Retail Tokopedia, Doni Nathaniel Pranama.

“The launch of this new service is also a manifestation of Tokopedia’s commitment to empowering traditional business players through technology,” added Doni.

To provide this service, Tokopedia cooperates with InfraDigital Nusantara (IDN). Students in more than 6,000 educational institutions members of the IDN Network, including schools, colleges, Islamic boarding schools, and Pusat Kegiatan Belajar Masyarakat (Community Learning Activity Centers or PKBM), can pay for education fees through millions of warungs and stores in Mitra Tokopedia ecosystem.

CEO InfraDigital Nusantara, Ian McKenna, said that IDN has a mission to help every educational institution digitize. “We are trying to support educational institutions, which are located in remote areas, with parents who are not yet connected to a bank. We appreciate this collaboration with Mitra Tokopedia to provide this service.”

To pay for education fees through warung in the Mitra Tokopedia ecosystem, users only need to visit the nearest warung Mitra Tokopedia and provide the name of the school and payment number or registered student number.

The benefits of this service have been felt by Haula Alfikri, one of the warung owners who joined the Mitra Tokopedia ecosystem from Wonosobo.

Haula said, “With this new service, we can help the community to pay education fees more easily without having to travel long distances. Apart from that, I can also get new income opportunities from this service.”

Mitra Tokopedia has been used by millions of traditional business players to serve tens of millions of people in more than 500 cities/districts throughout Indonesia.
