Indonesia, 2 December 2021 - Welcoming the International Day of Disabled Persons (3/12/2021), Tokopedia shares inspiring stories about people with disabilities behind MSMEs, which utilize technology and contribute to the digital economy, namely The Able Art and Toko Lariz.
"Tokopedia continues to provide the widest possible stage for local MSME activists, including users with disabilities, to create opportunities through the use of technology so they can rise together to restore the economy," said External Communications Senior Lead Tokopedia, Ekhel Chandra Wijaya.
The Able Art, Increases the Selling Value of Paintings by Disabled Artists
Starting from a love for the social world, Tommy Budianto founded The Able Art in Pasuruan in 2017. Tommy helps reproduce paintings by disabled artists into various products, such as hijabs, bags, pouches and others, to be sold offline and online.
“The Able Art was established to empower disabled artists to continue their work so they can earn a steady income. We want every work to have social value for the people of Indonesia,” explained Tommy.
Tommy collaborated with painting artists with disabilities from a number of regions in Indonesia, from Jakarta, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Malang to Bali. Not infrequently, to get high-quality reproductions of paintings, Tommy comes directly to the artists' premises.
“At the beginning of selling, our sales were only around 10-20% from before we joined Tokopedia. After using Tokopedia, The Able Art can send an average of 100 orders a month to various regions in Indonesia, including Papua," said Tommy.
Tunadaksa Builds Lariz Store So Main Source of Family Income
The owner of the Toko Lariz grocery shop and a quadriplegic from Semarang joined the Mitra Tokopedia ecosystem in 2019. This allowed Suhartini to stock basic food products only through the application, without having to leave the house.
The Tokopedia Partner application also allows Suhartini to add variants of digital products in his store, such as credit, data packages, electricity tokens and PDAMs, so that his income also increases.
“Since joining Mitra Tokopedia, my stall has been getting more and more popular. It's also very easy to refill the stall's stock because I don't have to leave the house. By selling digital products, my turnover has doubled," said Suhartini.
The shop has now become the main source of his family's income. “Physical limitations are not a barrier for me. With technology, anything is possible. I want to continue to prove that quadriplegics with minimal capital can also create opportunities,” concluded Suhartini.
