Tokopedia Becomes the Official E-Commerce Partner of  PON XX Papua 2021

Indonesia, 1 Oktober 2021 – Tokopedia announces as the official e-commerce partner of the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON) on October 2-15, 2021. “As an Indonesian technology company, Tokopedia is committed to being #AlwaysAvailableAlwaysPossible in supporting the nation’s best talents, including in sports, to achieve more,” said AVP of Business Tokopedia, David Kartono.

“Through collaboration with the XX Papua PON Grand Committee, we want to invite all Indonesian people to support athletes and other contingents competing in the biggest sporting event in Indonesia, without having to leave the house,” added David.

Tokopedia also hopes that with Tokopedia’s support for various sporting events in Indonesia, including the PON event which is held every four years, it will encourage more of the country’s best talents who excel to the world level.

PON XX Papua Revenue Coordinator, Vera Parinussa appreciated this collaboration, “PON XX Papua is expected to be a moment of awakening and collaboration between the Indonesian people. We really appreciate Tokopedia’s support for the thousands of athletes competing in this event.”

Tokopedia also presents a Sportacular campaign during PON XX Papua which can help the community obtain sports products, including those made by local MSMEs. There are discounts of up to 80%, cashback of up to Rp300.000, sports product giveaways of up to Rp3 million, and various other interesting promos.

David stated that a series of programs to support PON XX Papua 2021 were carried out to foster optimism and national spirit through sports, especially in the midst of a pandemic.

“Sports trend accelerated during the pandemic. Gymnastics mats, sports clothes and sports equipment that can be used at home are the most sought after sports products in the Sports category at Tokopedia during the second quarter of 2021,” explained David.

Tokopedia, on the other hand, provides a platform for local MSMEs, including those from Papua, to dominate in their own country and contribute to the digital economy.

Marice’s Belanja Termurah is an example of Papuan MSMEs that also take advantage of the Tokopedia ecosystem to reach more than 100 million monthly active Tokopedia visitors. Meanwhile, Patria Ismalinda’s ‘Mentari Kiosk’ experienced an almost 2x increase in turnover through Mitra Tokopedia.
