In celebration of National Nutrition Day, Tokopedia has collaborated with Celebrity Chef Norman Ismail to share valuable tips for people who want to begin cooking healthy food:

1. Try New Things – Changing your lifestyle by cooking a healthy menu requires discipline and commitment. "You can start by making easy dishes such as gado-gado, grilled fish, pepes tofu or chicken, and so on," said Chef Norman.

2. Choose Low Fat Protein – Besides being healthier, lean or low-fat protein can regulate weight. Protein itself serves to increase metabolism and reduce appetite. "Several examples of low-fat protein foods include fish, skinless chicken, egg whites, lean meats, and nuts," he explained.

3. Pay Close Attention to Fiber Combinations – "Try to include more high-fiber foods, including vegetables, in your meals," said Chef Norman. "Mango shrimp salad is an example of a healthy dish with a sour, sweet, and savory taste that you can try," he added.

4. Importance of Carbohydrates – Each person's daily calorie needs are different and depend on various factors such as gender and age. "But carbohydrates are not our enemy, so consume them according to your calorie needs, not excessively," explained Chef Norman.

5. Good Hygiene and Proper Food Processing Practices – Besides your hands, washing fruits and vegetables with running water is very important to remove dirt particles. "Don't forget to wash all cooking utensils, such as cutting boards, before and after cooking," said Chef Norman.

In addition, when processing meat, Chef Norman recommends setting the right temperature to kill bacteria effectively and ensure that nutrients are easily absorbed in the small intestine.
