World Sleep Day 2021, Try These Tips for Quality Sleep from Tokopedia

Jakarta, March 17, 2021 – According to sleep health practitioner, dr. Andreas Prasadja, RPSGT, insomnia or difficulty sleeping is the most common sleep disorder during the pandemic.

He explained, “The human body has circadian rhythms that shape the rhythm of the body. If someone is sleep deprived, the stability of their body will also be disrupted. Starting from cognitive abilities, endurance, emotional stability to disorders of digestion and metabolism.”

External Communications Senior Lead, Tokopedia, Ekhel Chandra Wijaya, said, “Tokopedia is committed to always available and always possible in making it easier for people to get quality sleep through a wide selection of supporting products from millions of sellers, especially local MSMEs.”

In order to celebrate the World Sleep Day on March 19, 2021, Tokopedia together with dr. Andreas Prasadja, RPSGT shares tips to help people get quality sleep.

  1. Sleep on Schedule – Sleeping on schedule is very important, meaning that you shouldn’t use sleep time for work or vice versa. The duration of sleep is also important to consider in order to maintain the stability of body functions.

“The ideal sleep duration is 7-9 hours a day. If this duration is met, then the need for sleep will be fulfilled so that the body’s performance is more optimal,” added dr. Andreas.

2. Create Comfortable Conditions – According to dr. Andreas, a comfortable atmosphere can help improve the quality of sleep at night. “In order to support better quality sleep, choose sleep support products that suit each individual’s taste for comfort,” he said.

In Tokopedia itself, transactions for pillow, bolsters and blankets increased by almost 2x during 2020 when compared to the previous year. On the other hand, transactions for mattress products jumped twice as much.

3. Adjust Room Lighting – “Turn off the lights while sleeping because our bodies need to distinguish between daytime and nighttime. Dark conditions can also support the production of the hormone melatonin, which helps the body to rest completely according to natural sleep rhythms or circadian rhythms,” said dr. Andreas.

4. Wear Comfortable Sleepwear – Pajamas made of satin, flannel or cotton can be an option to make sleep more comfortable. “The transaction for pajamas and pajamas at Tokopedia has increased more than 2x during 2020 when compared to the previous year,” said Ekhel.

Indonesians can also get various choices of nightgowns or pajamas from sellers, especially local MSMEs, through the Bedtime Favorites campaign on Tokopedia until March 19, 2021. There are a number of added values including cashback and discounts of up to 90%.

5. Use Aromatherapy Oils – Some aromatherapy oils that can promote relaxation and promote better sleep include lavender, cedar and bergamot.

“Since more people have started to use aromatherapy, sales of diffuser products on Tokopedia also surged. Internal data notes that diffuser product transactions have increased by more than 2.5 times during 2020 when compared to the previous year,” concluded Ekhel.
