Dorozome translates into “Mud Dyeing” in Japanese, an ancient dyeing technique which was originated from the island of Amami-Oshima, Southwest Japan. Thanks to the handful of passionated artisan, this technique is well preserved and still exist until now. Back then, Dorozome was used to color natural silk, which was used in the production of Kimono. The mud-dyed clothing has gentle, deep, powerful and astringent colors which can not be synthesized with chemical dyes. We believe this is one of the gift from our mother of the Earth. By combining the goodness of natural dyes, passionated craftsmanship and traditional dyeing method, Studio D’Artisan presents us this special piece of clothing.
