Simplest way to check the travel your lead screw nut.
Mark the point on your lead screw with a marker the place it is sitting.
Turn the nut one full revolution.
Measure the distance traveled in millimeters. This is your lead.
Pitch is simply the distance between threads in mm.

Screw Starts
Is the number of independent threads/grooves on the screw shaft; example 1, 2, 4, 8
Pitch is the distance between screw grooves

Lead is the linear travel the nut makes per 1 screw revolution and is how lead & ball screws are typically specified.
The pitch and lead are equal with single start screws.
For multiple start screws the lead is pitch x number of starts
