Founded in 1935, Misono has always been a small, family-owned business. The company originally produced sharp kitchen tools such as vegetable peelers, and began making knives in the late 1960s. Today, Misono is recognized as the oldest Japanese knife maker specializing in Western-style handles.
Misono employs only 50 craftsmen and produces around 150,000 knives annually. Every component of each knife is made in-house without outsourcing, ensuring consistent high quality. Each knife undergoes strict inspection before leaving the factory.
