Origin : Scotland
Category : Single Malt
ABV : 40%
Vol : 700ml
A singleton full of sherry that seems to have been created to remove the stigma of the existing singleton, Glen Ord, as a minmington. However, I did not say that the sherry was a good sherry. The balance is greatly disrupted, and the sherry-soaked oak barrel nuance dominates the drink overall. Notes that seem to have been made from bourbon casks are often felt, but everything is overwhelmed by the nuance of wet sherry oak casks.
Tasting Notes :
Nose:
- There is a slight buzz. The buzz is strong compared to the alcohol content.
- There is a strong sherry scent that feels very cloying. It contains a lot of the feeling of sweet blackcurrants that have slightly softened and are about to spoil, but to be more precise, it is the moist scent of sherry-infused oak barrels. The scent of the sherry itself, the thick oak scent, and the sweetness of maple syrup and caramel are felt mixed together.
- You can feel the bitterness and softness of dark chocolate, and the taste of lactic acid mixed together gives a creamy feeling.
- You can feel the spice of nutmeg, and the citrus of lemon slightly stings your nose.
- The scent of leather that has passed some time. Mixed with a musty scent, it reminds me of leather lying in a damp place.
Taste :
- Very uniquely, the bitter taste of oak comes first. It feels dry on the tongue with a bit of tannin mixed in.
- Afterwards, a thick sherry is felt, but rather than dried fruits such as raisins, black fruits such as black currants come to mind. The sweetness is also strong, with a hint of bitterness like caramel just before it burns.
- It feels like vanilla mixed with a hint of tropical fruit like pineapple.
- The spice of nutmeg feels slightly spicy, and the bitter citrus of lime is felt.
- It has quite a bit of a lactic acid smell, and the sulfur is mixed to form a creamy texture, but it is a bit excessive.
Finish :
The finish is medium length.
- The taste of lactic acid is also noticeable from the beginning and gives a creamy feeling.
- On the other hand, the oak nuance fills the mouth, slightly suppressing the creamy feeling and giving a slight dryness. Overall, the finish gives the feeling of being sucked from an oak barrel.
- The sweetness of caramel, tropical fruits (lychees, pineapple), and blackcurrant fruit flavors linger in the mouth.
- Immediately, a tobacco scent like raw tobacco comes into your nose.
