It's our pleasure to introduce you to the world of Whittaker's and show you why we're New Zealand's favourite chocolate maker.

From Bean to Bar
We believe that best is always better. We source premium quality ingredients and craft them into world class chocolate.
For most of our cocoa we head to Ghana because their hand-picked cocoa pods are simply the world’s best.
The cocoa pods are split in two revealing the treasure inside.
Nature does it best and our premium beans are then dried to perfection in the hot Ghanaian sun.

We are control freaks
Back home in Porirua, our batch-roasting begins to ensure it is up to the highest standard.
Roasting loosens the bean’s outer shell, which we then shake off with a machine called a ‘winnower’. What’s left is the all important nib.
Nibs’ are half cocoa butter and half cocoa mass, and unlike some, we keep them together and slowly grind them over and over, until they finish up in our Swiss 5 Roll Refiner. Eventually, the cocoa transforms into a rich liquid called cocoa liquor. This is why our chocolate is so smooth.
