Geriatric Outcome Measures (GOM) are assessment tools specifically designed to evaluate the functional abilities, health status, and quality of life of older adults. These measures help healthcare professionals, including physiotherapists, to assess, monitor, and plan interventions for older individuals. Here are some commonly used Geriatric Outcome Measures:

1. Barthel Index (BI): The Barthel Index assesses activities of daily living (ADLs) and measures an individual’s independence in tasks such as feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, walking, climbing stairs, and controlling bladder and bowel movements.

2. Timed Up and Go (TUG): The TUG test assesses mobility and balance. It measures the time taken by an individual to stand up from a chair, walk a short distance, turn around, walk back, and sit down again.

3. Berg Balance Scale (BBS): The Berg Balance Scale evaluates balance and fall risk in older adults. It consists of 14 different balance-related tasks, such as standing on one leg, reaching for objects, and maintaining various standing positions.

4. Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE): The MMSE is a cognitive screening tool that assesses cognitive function, including orientation, memory, attention, and language skills. It helps identify cognitive impairments and is often used in geriatric populations.

5. Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS): The GDS is a screening tool for assessing depression in older adults. It consists of a series of questions that evaluate mood, motivation, and enjoyment of life, helping to identify potential depressive symptoms.

6. Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB): The SPPB assesses lower extremity function, including standing balance, gait speed, and chair stands. It is commonly used to assess physical function and predict functional decline in older adults.

7. Quality of Life Scales: Various scales, such as the SF-36 (Short Form-36) or EQ-5D (EuroQol-5 Dimension), are used to measure quality of life in older adult
