H. Widayat, for me, is not only my most favorite artist, but also a mentor, a motivator, and a close friend holding a special place in my heart It was him who initially encouraged me to establish a museum to enable my collections displayed and seen by many people. When establishing his “Museum H. Widayat” in Mungkid, Magelang, in 1994, he directly appointed Muchtar, ( artist, former rector of ISI - Indonesian Institute of the Arts- Yogyakarta ). Kusnadi ( artist, art critic and writer, Widayat’s teacher at ASRI - Indonesian Fine Arts Academy ) and Oei Hong Djien ( art collector ) as curators.

H. Widayat remains the only artist that OHD Museum has hosted a solo exhibition of his works. Its great pleasure for OHD Museum to host second solo exhibition of H. Widayat works to mark 100 years of H. Widayat. This exhibition, titled “H. Widayat Centennial Celebration: 100 works for 100 years” is curated by Joanna Lee, a Singaporean curator who also curated his solo exhibition of “Widayat between Worlds: A Retrospective in Singapore Art Museum, 2017. All his currently displayed works are OHD Museum collections. - dr. Oei Hong Djien
