Modul sensor PIR sering digunakan untuk mendeteksi benda ataupun manusia untuk kegunaan tertentu seperti pada sistem keamanan atau counter. Sensor ini bekerja dengan cara mendeteksi inframerah yang dipancarkan oleh tubuh manusia dan mengubahnya menjadi sinyal listrik, kemudian menghasilkan sinyal digital sehingga mudah diolah ketika diaplikasikan pada rangkaian mikrokontroler seperti Arduino maupun NodeMCU.
