Shanling EH2 R2R 24Bit Bluetooth DAC Desktop DAC & Headphone Amplifier

With the EH2, Shanling presents a desktop DAC and headphone amplifier that's intended to be the successor to the Shanling HE1. This evolution incorporates digital/analog conversion via an R2R ladder resistor network developed directly in-house by the brand, in order to approach the sound rendering of the PCM1704 chip. As a result, this DAC can process signals up to PCM 32bit 768kHz and DSD512. The amplification stage is based on transistors and offers a output power of 4.32W at 32Ω.



Shanling EH2: Transistor amplification

The HE02's amplifier stage relies on BD139 and BD140 transistors for an output power of 4.32W into 32Ω for the balanced headphone output and 1.28W into 32Ω for the Single-ended headphone output. Furthermore, the line output is also equipped with an OPA 1612 to provide an output level of 4.5V balanced and 2.2V single-ended.



Shanling EH2: Extended connectivity

The EH2 also offers more extensive connectivity than its predecessor. It features a Toslink optical input, a coaxial input and a USB-C input. The latter is equipped with an XMOS XU316 interface that supports signals up to PCM 32bit 768kHz and DSD512. Furthermore, the EH2 features Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity thanks to Qualcomm's QCC5125 chip, allowing you to connect wirelessly while maintaining excellent quality thanks to support for LDAC, aptX, aptX HD and aptX Adaptive high-definition codecs.
