Studio D’Artisan - 15oz ‘Hinode’ Indigo x Mad-Red Selvage Denim
We have this limited edition jeans from one of The Japanese finest denim brand, Studio D’Artisan, The Hinode Jeans.
Akane is said to be the oldest red dye which has been used since the old days. This is a traditional Japanese color, called Niai and has been used for clothing exclusively by the nobleman since the Heian period and was forbidden for ordinary people. Also, this color has been used for Japan National Flag “Hinomaru” / “The Circle of the Sun” since its first creation until now, which embodies what the country’s known for: Land of The Rising Sun.
Inspired by this background, Studio D’Artisan has created this special denim with plant dyeing, using Akane, the oldest red dye. The combination of dark indigo dyed warp and ‘Mad red’ Akane dyed weft creates a beautiful ‘reddish indigo’ tone of the fabric.
This denim fabric is woven on Toyoda G3 shuttle loom, which is known as the earliest shuttle loom in Japan. The result is a selvage denim fabric with a ton of character, unique rough surface, and slubby texture in its own uniqueness.
These jeans also feature “Hinode” deerskin leather patch and Obi (Kimono Belt) for Center-back Belt Loop which is different for each jeans. So each of these jeans is literally one and only, none of them is exactly similar.
