Conducting telephone calls via the Internet has become an everyday occurrence and can now bring huge savings at a low cost, especially when conducting international business. The simplicity, convenience and effectiveness of such solutions result from the use of standard H.323 and H.450 protocols in combination with the G.711, G.723, G.726 and G.729 voice codecs.

The VIP-400 is equipped with four RJ-11 interfaces, including two FXS and two FXO, and is ideal for home users or small offices. It offers a combination of FXS and FXO ports in one device, e.g. for connecting direct telephone lines, fax and additionally an internal PBX and local PSTN. To meet the diverse needs of customers , the VIP-400FS with four FXS ports and the VIP-400FO with four FXO ports are also offered .

Compatibility with the H.323 protocol enables Planet products to work with any applications based on this protocol, such as Windows Net Meeting or Web Phone. At the same time, standard voice compression and coding systems such as ITU G.711, G.723, G.726 and G.729 allow for easy cooperation with other compatible Internet telephony devices, including leading global manufacturers such as Cisco or RADVision. In addition, VIP-400 can now work with the DDNS service, which makes it possible to establish a connection for voice transmission in an environment with dynamically changing IP addresses. The cooperation of two connection types - PPPoE and DHCP client, and the built-in DDNS client helps those who do not have a static IP address in mapping their dynamic IP address into an easy-to-remember URL. Thanks to this solution, establishing a connection with a given VoIP gateway is easier than ever.
