About Pierre Balmain
Balmain was founded in 1945 by Pierre Balmain. With a bold style that offered a more feminine look that what was previously found the Parisian fashion house quickly become a favourite around the world.
Before founding his own house, Balmain worked alongside Dior and Givenchy at the atelier of Lucien Lelong. This helped craft his master techniques, which were instrumental in his rapid success once forming his own brand.
In 1974, Pierre Balmain contracted Dutch wigmaker, Dick Guilder, to create a range of hairpieces for Balmain. This began with the name Euro Hair, a licensee of Balmain Couture and officially changed the name to Balmain Hair Couture in 2000. Once the demand for wigs faded, Balmain Hair expanded to essential hair products and extensions, which we know and love today.
