Asymmetric cases, just like this lozenge-shaped Fabliau, carry the spirit of an era when the appetite for experimentation and difference mattered the most. You see, wristwatches first came into fashion after they were adopted from their military, utilitarian usage. Originally, they were pocket watches simply strapped to the soldiers’ wrists. So the earliest examples were rather round, and usual, and…boring.
Asymmetric shapes are a departure from the ordinary. They’re meant to satisfy the needs of individuals who want to make a presence, a statement, in their world. A statement of uniqueness, experimentation, and also of ergonomics–as signified by that diagonally-oriented dial. 9/10. The black dial is impeccable, and the caseback perfectly retains its satin finish. No visible scratches on the entire glossy case, while there are microscopic spots on it due to aging.
