The production of Kremer watercolors is solely done by hand in the Color-Mill in the Allgäu region. When selecting the color ingredients only high-quality Kremer pigments are used. These are combined with Kremer Watercolor Medium based on Gum Arabic.

Even though black and white are not considered real colors according to many physicists, they are of great practical importance. The mixture of white and black colors results in the gray axis. The color perception of the human eye is extremely sensitive for this particular color spectrum. As a result, we are able to perceive the smallest nuances of color. Brightness is based on the reflection of light. If all light is reflected back, then the object is white. The pigment Titanium White, with its high opacity and a degree of whiteness close to 100%, is almost solely used for the bright colors of our modern age. Pigments such as Zinc White or Kremer White complement the possibility of producing light to whitish color shades. With dark objects, light is swallowed up, and with black, a lot of light is absorbed. Most traditional blacks are derived from carbon or minerals, such as Bone Black, Bideford Black or Furnance Black. If the black is created from substances with structure, for example, annual rings of wood, then part of the structure is retained during charring and leads to reflection that is visibility.
