The name ‘Ba'al’ is mentioned in the Hebrw Bible as the primary god of the Phoenicians or Philistines and literally means 'lord’ or 'ruler’. 
Many Philistine cities were named after Ba'al in various forms.
Bael or Baal may also be known as Beelzebub, one of the Seven Rulers of Hell who is also known for idolatry and tempting men with pride. As Beelzebub, he was one of the first three angels to fall and prince to the Seraphim. (More about Beelzebub in another series of demons).
As a king, calling upon him is done “from 9 till 12 o’clock at Noon, and from 3 till Sunset” and in a place with no noise and where no man dwell.
