ATA is a tropical fern species which grows wildly in the forest of Indonesia. we can find it in the forest of Bali, Lombok, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and others. Since centuries ago, local inhabitants in the island has been using ATA fiber for many different things as the fiber has qualities of tough, flexible, and durable. Local people have been made mat, traditional bags, boxes and other things. Tourist especially expatriate tourists found that ATA products are exotic and unique and they bought it as souvenir. It creates new market for local crafter and ATA craft grows bigger and adopt new design to meet the expectation of new market.What makes ATA handicraft grows into an industry is its positioning as natural products while at the same time it is also functional.
