Glyceryl stearate and PEG-100 stearate is a combination of two ingredients that can be used in cosmetics to improve the stability, consistency, and absorption of other ingredients:

Glyceryl stearate
A thickener and stabilizer derived from glycerin and stearic acid. It helps create a protective barrier on the skin to reduce water loss and increase hydration.

PEG-100 stearate
A surfactant and emulsifier derived from stearic acid and polyethylene glycol. It helps prevent the separation of oil and water phases in cosmetic formulations.

When combined, glyceryl stearate and PEG-100 stearate can:
Improve consistency: Create a smooth, uniform texture that's easy to apply
Improve emollience: Form a barrier on the skin to lock in moisture and make it feel soft and hydrated
Increase stability: Make cosmetic formulations more resistant to temperature changes and extend their shelf life

Glyceryl stearate and PEG-100 stearate can be used in a variety of applications, including skincare, baby care, hair care, and color cosmetics. The usage rate depends on the proportion of oil in the formula, but is typically between 0.5–5%.

To use glyceryl stearate and PEG-100 stearate, you can heat it to 60–70°C in the oil phase of your formula and make sure it's fully dissolved. You can use an agitator if necessary to minimize the risk of creating granules in the final formulation.
