Corrosion Coupon Rack System What is a corrosion coupon rack? Corrosion coupons are pre-weighed and measured metal strips which are mounted in a special pipe system called a corrosion coupon rack. They are used to estimate the rate of metal corrosion by comparing the initial weight with the weight following 60, 90 or 120 days of exposure to the water in the system. Corrosion coupons are the simplest and most commonly used form of corrosion measurement today.  Corrosion coupons are small bars of various metals or alloys that are introduced into the system through a side stream coupon rack. The coupon alloy selection should be representative of system metals. Coupons are pre-weighed and measured by a manufacturer and left in place for a fixed amount of time.  After exposure, coupons are usually analysis by an independent laboratory. Applications: Cooling tower system, Closed loop cooling, Boiler water system, etc.
