TWARON Angel Hair is a speaker cabinet filler for acoustic damping purpose which is produced by Thüringische Institut für Textil- und Kunststoff-Forschung (=), Germany, exclusively for MUNDORF company, Germany.

For to make Mundorf Angel Hair, the TWARON base fibres are processed several times: First, the TWARON fibres are cut into 60mm short sections, herafter combed and finally carefully pressed into a wool-like mass. In contrast to other plastic fibres, TWARON Angel Hair conducts heat generated vibrations away very well, which means that it absorbs energy caused by motion in an entirely different, hence more effective manner than conventional materials used for damping purpose.

In addition to its rather practical properties such as being easy to work with, non-aging and almost unflamable, there is another positive, very cost-efficient physical property of TWARON Angel Hair to stress: It constantly tends to expand and therefore always fills the available space. Therefore a sufficient cabinet filling only requires 3-5 grams per litre. A weight to volume ratio that makes the TWARON fibres’ price quite reasonable: You just need 10 to 20% of the weight of other damping materials.

The acoustical properties and results of TWARON Angel Hair depend a) on the correct length of the fibres and b) on a carefully performed combing-process. The improvement in terms of music performance (=) is absolutely on an equal level as popular HiFi gear up-grades such as replacing wires or plugs, which more often than not are considerably more expensive.
