Safest is to first try out 8h activating and 8h in the hair. If you are a first time user, before dying your hair, please make a test with a spoonful of powder. Youll learn how to judge the timing and components after a few times using Henna hair dye and recognize when the paste is ready and right. Mix powder with the acidic component (lukewarm coffee or tea, brewed with distilled or filtered water). Stir the paste thoroughly until the thick pudding-like paste is evenly mixed. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it sit for about 8h at room temperature out of sunlight. Henna will not stain if used immediately, the acid must activate the lawsone particles that will give stain to your hair. If the powder has absorbed a lot of water while activating and the paste has become too thick, add slowly more distilled or filtered water to make it thinner. Make sure the paste is neither too thin nor too thick, or else it will be hard to apply on the hair. Adding too much water will not affect the stain, just harder to work with and apply. The longer you keep the paste on, the more Henna has the opportunity to stain your hair. We recommend holding it for up to 12h. After washing it off, it may take up to 48-72h for the color to fully develop. You can do touch ups on the roots and grays to get better coverage. It might seem like big work and effort but once you succeed and find the right way for your hair, youll be making a big impact on the health of your hair by simply not using chemicals anymore.
