The Bastinelli BBR2 is definitely a design to consider when looking for a new knife, no matter the applications you're looking to address. Like the popular Dragotac models, you're getting a full length cutting edge to maximize the amount of usable blade you get in this knife. Measuring in at 3.25" of D2 tool steel, the blade is placed, in relation to the handle, in a superb cutting position for slicing. The blade shape is a modified drop point with characteristics of a spear point design giving you identical amounts of steel on the sharpened and unsharpened sides near the tip, providing strength and increased stabbing capabilities. The handle is ergonomically comfortable and the edges are rounded to minimize hot spots which this knife creates very few of anyways. Its got buttery smooth action thanks to the excellent IKBS system and features very functional jimping on the thumb ramp. The secondary jimping near the tip is a great idea but could use slightly better execution as it's relatively rounded and not ideal for wet or bloody applications. Ergonomically and visually, this is a stunning knife and the quality, being made by LionSteel (2014 BLADE Show manufacturing quality award winner), is definitely award worthy.
