Emile Hugot, Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur, received his engineering degree in 1926 from the Ecole Centrale des Art set Manufactures in Paris.
In 1928 he started his career as a sugar engineer in Réunion. He is now President of the Société des Sucreries de Bourbon, a limited company that was formed in 1948 when four individual sugar companies, of which Mr. Hugot was President and General Manager, merged. He is also President of the “Energie Electrique d ela Réunion” and Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce of the Island. Besides inventing the Five—Hugot sugar pan, he has worked out several formulas used in engineering and tecnology.
