Diospyros lotus, lebih dikenal sebagai Date-plum atau Kaukasia Kesemek adalah spesies yang tersebar luas dari genus Diospyros, asli Asia Baratsubtropis dan tenggara. Nama bahasa Inggrisnya berasal dari buahnya yang berukuran kecil, memiliki rasa yang mengingatkan pada buah plum dan kurma. Ini adalah salah satu tanaman tertua dalam budidaya.

Buahnya bisa dimakan mentah atau dimasak. Buahnya mengandung sekitar 1,9% protein, 0,2% lemak, 47,7% karbohidrat, 1% abu. Warna buahnya berubah dari kuning menjadi biru kehitaman saat sudah matang.

Diospyros lotus , better known as the Date-plum or Caucasian Persimmon is a widely cultivated species of the genus Diospyros , native to subtropical southwest Asia and southeast Europe .

Its English name derives from the small fruit, which have a taste reminiscent of both plums and dates . It is among the oldest plants in cultivation.

Fruit - raw or cooked. The fruit has an exquisitely rich flavour when it is fully ripe (almost at the point of going bad), but it is very harsh and astringent before then.

The fruit contains about 1.9% protein, 0.2% fat, 47.7% carbohydrate, 1% ash. Fruits are about the size of a large cherry, they turn from yellow to blue-black when fully ripe. The fruit is about 20mm in diameter.
