The difference between single coil and double coil : ① The starting power of single coil is small and the holding power is the same, and the voltage range of pull-in is wider. For example, a 48V coil can be normally pulled in at a voltage of 41V, but the temperature rise is faster than that of double coil. ② The starting power of double coil is large, the holding power is small, and the voltage pull-in range is narrower. For example, a 48V coil requires a minimum pull-in voltage of 43V, but the temperature rise is slower than that of a single coil.
Regarding coil temperature: It is normal for the contactor to heat up and become hot. The coil temperature is normal within 130 degrees. The longer the power is on, the higher the temperature.
The difference in appearance between single-coil and double-coil contactors: The left picture below shows a single-coil with a flat bottom made of iron, while the right picture shows a double-coil with a plastic part on the bottom. The appearance is slightly different, but the size is the same.
