Laryngeal mirrors are needed in pharyngeal examinations to extract foreign bodies or obtain biopsies from upper airway structures. This includes structures like the posterior tongue, the posterior pharyngeal wall, and the larynx. After the application of local anesthesia, the mirror is inserted to offer an indirect view of the laryngeal structures while the patient is awake. This is advantageous to inspect the structure and mobility of the vocal cords, as opposed to direct laryngoscopes that require deeper anesthesia to prevent patient discomfort and stress. The device has an overall length of 18.5 cm. It has a corrugated fixed handle that provides optimal stability and dexterity and a long shaft that reaches far into the oral cavity. The shaft is firm and unyielding, so it can be pressed on soft tissues like the tongue and the soft palate. The plain mirror has an angle designed to reflect the underlying structures with an anteroposterior reversal of the image. It is recommended to heat the mirror beforehand to prevent condensation of water vapor on its surface. We sell laryngeal mirrors from the finest quality of stainless steel with rhodium plating.
