Details of the Rotor 2INPower Direct Mount Powermeter Crank
ROTOR Bike Components introduces the new 2INpower ("twin" power), a bilateral measuring powermeter. First speculations about the new Powermeter came up at the "Tour Down Under". Here, 2INpower prototypes were already spotted on the Cervélo bikes by Team Dimension Data. The 2INpower measures power individually from each leg. This presents accurate data on balance and power output, and highlights the potential for performance improvement in pedaling power. As the name suggests, the 2INpower is the evolution of ROTOR`s INpower, where power measurement is done in the crank axis for the left leg.
"A rider or driver with a 50/50 balance is very rare, even if it exists," explains Irene Albacete, engineer in charge of the 2INpower. "We knew the next step had to be to take advantage of the INpower technology's benefits and accuracy to create a bilateral powermeter with the same features as the INpower."
Two additional pairs of strain gauges are placed in the right crank arm in the process; these measure the power of the right leg only. The remaining four strain gauges are implemented in the crank arm, as on the INpower, and measure the power of the left leg.
New features of the 2INpower also include Bluetooth Smart functionality and a built-in rechargeable battery.
Last spring, ROTOR introduced TORQUE 360 and OCA (Optimum Chainring Angle), two pedaling analysis features that help riders improve their pedaling with precise and accurate data.
