With the M7120 SLX crank, Shimano is taking a big step forward in several aspects. The most striking innovation: The M7120 is designed for direct mount chainrings. Its 55 millimeter chain line has been optimized for Boost rear triangles.
When constructing the crank, Shimano continues to rely on the proven Hollowtech-2 technology with a 24 millimeter crankshaft. By optimizing the design, further weight could be saved in the current generation of the cold-forged aluminum crank and at the same time the rigidity increased.
