Ogurayama is an exceptionally tasty, pampering, dreamy matcha tea, mild in character with sweet, creamily full-bodied, delicate flavours. As an usucha tea, it offers a rather pleasant, joyful experience for those seeking a more engaging flavour as well as for those just getting to know matcha tea.
Origin: Kyoto Prefecture, Japan
The meaning of Ogurayama "" :
"Mount Ogura" is a mountain in Saga, Kyoto, that faces Arashiyama from across the Hozu river. It is said that Fujiwara no Sadaie (also known as Fujiwara no Teika) compiled the "Hyakunin Isshu" ("One Hundred Poets, One Poem Each") at his lodge there. For this reason, the seminal waka anthology is also sometimes called the "Ogura Hyakunin Isshu".
HOW TO PREPAREAs Usucha:
STEP 1) Put 1.5‒2 g (0.4 US tsp, 1 teaspoon or 2 chashaku (tea scoops)) matcha powder into a suitable tea bowl.
STEP 2) Pour 80 ml (2.7 fl oz) 80ºC (176ºF) water over the matcha powder.
STEP 3) Whisk with a chasen (tea whisk) until foamy.
