Behind the Beans :


Hacienda La Esmeralda is the pioneer of Geisha varietal in Panama. In 2004 for the first time they brought 100% Geisha coffee on the Best of Panama 2004 cupping table. That cup opens up new possibility with its brightness & multi-layered aromatics. This was a coffee that is never seen before, thus resulting in almost 10 times of bidding price than the 2nd place.


Excitement is an understatement word of how happy we are to be able to get this lot. We humbly present to you Nido. Nido was the Plot in Canas Verdes, Hacienda La Esmeralda that took 1st Place in Best of Panama 2025 with Geisha Washed 98.00 & Geisha Natural 97.00. It is a Record-Breaking score in 21 years Best of Panama history.


Nido means Nest is perched on the westernmost section of the farm at altitude of 2000+ masl. This region is challenging to pick due to its isolated location, but the BOP 2025 results show the fruit of the love of the Peterson family towards making better coffee. We couldn’t be more humbled to be able to serve an Extraordinary Coffee that is considered to be the best coffee in the world in 2025.


Nido 3-NC is an Esmeralda Nano Lot series where the lot size is a maxed at 5 kg/lot. It was launched in 2024 to focus more on the region characteristic. Now, Nano Lot is the flagship of Esmeralda & the coffee cost at least US$ 1.000/kg on farm price.


Ripe Geisha cherries were harvested on 20 February & dried in Climate Controlled Drying Room where Airflow, Temperature, & Humidity are precisely controlled. The benefit of this method is that cherries can be dried under Cool Temperature causing it to be bursting with Intense Fruity & Vibrant Acidity. The drying process took 46 days on raised bed.


When cupping & brewing Nido 3-NC there is explosive Floral aromatics. The taste is like Classic Natural Panama Geisha, but with way more Intensity & better Sweetness. Through the challenging isolated region of Nido & strict grading of Esmeralda Nano Lot, the Legendary Green Tip Geisha notes are enhanced giving you the taste of Mango, Bergamot Zest, Perfumed Jasmine, Peach Candy, Honey, Earl Grey Tea. This is one of the best craftsmanship from Hacienda La Esmeralda, a Perfume Coffee with intense Honey sweetness.


We agree that this is a cup of history. Tasting this cup feels we are taken 2024 Best of Panama cupping table, where Geisha is first tasted.
