Matricaria chamomilla also known as Chamomile is one of several different species in the daisy (Asteraceae) family. This flower has many amazing functions that are used around the world. Well known for its primary use as a choice of tea, it is often used to reduce anxiety, stress and sleep disorders because of its medical properties that contain many terpenoids and flavonoids. This is why many who consume chamomile will feel drowsy and sleepy. Chamomile has also been used for many human ailments such as hay fever, inflammation, muscle spasms, menstrual disorders, ulcers and even wounds. The flower can also be extracted into essential oils which are used extensively in cosmetics and aromatherapy.
