Located nearly in the centre of Africa, Rwanda is a fertile, mountainous, and small yet densely populated country that rely on agriculture. Facing severe challenges in patriarchal Rwanda, single mothers find support and hope in 'Ikizere,' a solidarity group initiated by Baho Coffee Company, where they connect through coffee farming and build community.
The Fugi Ikizere Women's Group employs a precise coffee processing method. Ripe cherries are meticulously hand-picked and sorted by weight by female farmers and their families. The cherries are then directly sun-dried on raised beds and frequently raked to ensure even drying. The processor allows the cherries to dry slowly for more developed flavour and sweetness. The drying process takes approximately 52 days to complete.
When your taste bud hits the cup, it will likely flood your senses with the lingering Caramel sweetness, silky texture of Red Tomato, and a hint of refreshing Watermelon followed by a slightly savoury finish. This coffee is a prime example of high-quality Rwandan coffee, known for its clean and delightful long sweetness.
