Heat to boiling to dissolve the medium completely. Dispense as desired and sterilize by autoclaving at 15 lbs pressure (121°C) for 15 minutes. If desired, medium can be enriched with 5-10% blood or other biological fluids. Principle and Interpretation : Nutrient HiVeg Agar / Broth is a specially developed medium from vegetable peptones to avoid BSE/TSE risks associated with animal origin peptones, which meets identical requirement of routine Nutrient Agar/Broth prepared from animal based peptones. Nutritional properties of HiVeg peptone and HiVeg extract are comparable to Peptic digest of animal tissue and Beef extract respectively
