Subsequent work has concluded that the enrichment properties can be improved by increasing the buffering capacity of the medium by the addition of potassium di-hydrogen orthophosphate and disodium hydrogen orthophosphate. Buffered Listeria Enrichment Broth is therefore a modification of the original medium.
