At the beginning of 1962, nobody knew Franco Balmamion. By the end of the following year’s Giro, he had secured his place in cycling history by becoming the first Italian since Fausto Coppi to defend his title. This special edition short sleeved cycling jersey pays homage to that double Giro triumph, and features Franco’s initials, his nickname and livery of his famous Torinese team. Designed for riding in mild to warm conditions, or Balamion’s home region of Canavese in spring, the jersey is made with a merino wool blend which is insulating, breathable and versatile. The ribbed collar and cuffs add a touch of contrast, and the quarter zip can be opened for extra ventilation. Just like the jerseys Franco would have worn, there are two pockets on the chest to complement the usual three rear pockets, all of which are fastened with a single button. An embroidered detail on the right sleeve recalls Balmamion’s title-winning years, a final reminder of a once forgotten champion of Italian cycling.
