Jakarta, 30 June 2021 – Tokopedia presents the annual technology conference, START Summit, with the theme ‘Transforming Indonesia Through Technology’. This online activity can be watched through Tokopedia Play, Official YouTube Inside Tokopedia as well as Tokopedia Academy website on Saturday, July 3, 2021, at 09.00-18.00 WIB.
The event was opened with remarks from the Minister of Communication and Information of the Republic of Indonesia, Johnny G. Plate, who said, “We give high appreciation for Tokopedia’s commitment to contribute to the collaboration of the local talents, strengthening digital human resources, and digital talents of Indonesia. The START 2021 conference, organized by Tokopedia, is expected to be a place to learn and understand various topics such as core engineering, infrastructure and productivity, data and other innovative and productive things to support the sustainability of Indonesia’s digital transformation.”
The event was continued with various sessions by the Co-Founder and Vice Chairman of Tokopedia, Leontinus Alpha Edison; CTO and Senior Vice President of Engineering Tokopedia, Herman Widjaja; Vice President of Engineering and Chief of Staff Technology Tokopedia, Aswin Tanu Utomo, as well as a number of other Tokopedia digital talents.
Co-Founder and Vice Chairman of Tokopedia, Leontinus Alpha Edison explained, “Tokopedia as an Indonesian technology company continues to strive to support the advancement of Indonesia’s digital talent and form a collaborative ecosystem. One of them is through the START Summit, which is a forum for sharing the experiences of technology activists, technology business people, to the digital community, who share the same passion in advancing the Indonesian technology industry.”
There are 3 main topics that will be discussed at the 2021 START Summit, namely Core Engineering, Infrastructure and Productivity and Data. Tokopedia’s line of digital talents will share various information ranging from programming, product development, integrated campaign management, multi-cloud strategy and various other innovations.

In addition to the START Summit, Tokopedia through the Tokopedia Academy also presents various initiatives for Indonesian digital talents, such as START Summit Extension, START Women in Tech, Devcamp, Tokopedia Internship, Product Design Academy, Summer Acceleration Program, collaboration with universities, for example in building AI Centers to modules. education, and much more.
On the other hand, Tokopedia has also presented two initiatives to support the Kampus Merdeka Program created by the Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology RI. First, the Certified Internship program is available for three fields, namely Software Engineering, Marketing and Business Development. Second, Hackathon Devcamp which is a competition to build products and solutions in a very short time.
