Celebrate National MSME Day 2023 in Solo, Tokopedia and MenkopUKM RI Team Up for Live Shopping in Solo

Solo, 12 August 2023 - To celebrate National MSME Day 2023 in Solo, Tokopedia, as part of GoTo, has invited hundreds of local MSMEs to participate in a variety of activities aimed at promoting MSME empowerment. One such event was the exciting live shopping from Tokopedia PLAY, which took place today at Pura Mangkunegaran.

The live shopping, dubbed #FlexingLokal, was part of a series of activities organized by the GoTo Group to honor National MSME Day 2023 and featured the participation of Teten Masduki, the Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (MenkopUKM) of Indonesia, as well as Melissa Siska Juminto, President of E-Commerce at GoTo (Tokopedia), and Debby Natalia, the owner of the Onde-Onde Njonja Moeda.

Teten Masduki, the Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (MenkopUKM) of Indonesia, revealed, “One of the main priorities of the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs is to promote digitalization among Indonesian business actors. At present, we have successfully onboarded 22 million MSMEs onto digital platforms, and we are committed to further increasing this number to align with the Government's goal to integrate 30 million MSMEs into the digital ecosystem. I have the hope that the digitalization of MSMEs will enable local entrepreneurs to expand their market presence and reach even more customers, in addition to strengthening their capabilities. Let’s show our support by embracing and purchasing local products.”

"Tokopedia PLAY is a great example of GoTo's technological innovation aimed at elevating the visibility of MSMEs, which are experiencing increasing demand from customers. Furthermore, Medan, Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya, and Sidoarjo were identified as regions with the highest viewership of Tokopedia PLAY in the first half of 2023,” explained Melissa Siska Juminto, President of E-Commerce at GoTo (Tokopedia).

She added, "Tokopedia PLAY has also contributed positively to the growth of MSMEs. During the first semester of 2023, the average increase in seller transactions skyrocketed by more than 7 times compared to the same period in 2022. Some sellers even saw their transaction numbers increase by an average of more than 60 times.”

In addition, Tokopedia PLAY has helped propel categories such as Food & Beverage, Fashion, Beauty & Personal Care, Health, and Household Products to become the best-selling categories on Tokopedia PLAY during the first semester of 2023.

Debby Natalia, Owner of Onde-Onde Njonja Moeda, said, "One of the keys to successfully selling your products online on Tokopedia is to continue innovating and consistently utilizing the various features at your disposal in order to drive sales.
