Indonesia, January 28, 2022 – Ahead of the Chinese New Year, people have begun to beautify their homes with various exciting decorations. “Transactions for Chinese New Year decorations have almost doubled in January 2022 compared to the same period last year,” said Tokopedia’s External Communications Senior Lead, Ekhel Chandra Wijaya.
Furthermore, products such as parcels and red packets rose to become favorite products in the lead up toward this year's Imlek celebrations. Tokopedia recorded a nearly three times increase in transactions for parcels and red envelopes in January 2022.
“We know that people also still like to send gifts and greeting cards to their family and relatives. There is an almost four times increase in the number of transactions for kue keranjang compared to the same period last year,” added Ekhel.
Tokopedia has also prepared various initiatives to help the community meet their needs ahead of the Chinese New Year, starting from which helps people meet their daily needs—including basic foods, meat, vegetables, fruits, snacks, and more—within a maximum of two hours of delivery after payment.
Through the program, Tokopedia strengthens its collaboration with local food and beverage business actors to make it faster and easier for people to obtain food and beverage without having to leave their homes.
