Indonesia, 13 April 2023 – Tokopedia, through its Mitra Tokopedia ecosystem, strives for business continuity by sharpening its focus on becoming a platform with a more specific business scale and scope to continue to create the most positive impact on all parties involved in the ecosystem.
“In Mitra Tokopedia, the percentage of digital product users (pulse, data packages, game vouchers, electricity tokens and others) is much higher than wholesale products (groceries and other physical products),” explained Head of Mitra Tokopedia, Carlo Yudhistira Praditya.
“Based on the data, we decided to modify our business by sunsetting the Wholesale Products feature in the Mitra Tokopedia application and focus on facilitating individuals and traditional business owners to sell 21 types of digital products at competitive prices so they can earn more,” said Carlo.
The 21 types of digital products are divided into three categories: (1) Purchases - consisting of five products including credit and game vouchers; (2) Digital Wallets - consisting of three products including Gojek Wallet Balance and GoPay Top Up; and (3) Payments - consisting of 13 products including Donation and Water Bills.
“This business adjustment for Mitra Tokopedia is in line with the goal of the Tokopedia group of companies, namely the GoTo group, to build a sustainable business that continues to grow in the long term,” said Carlo.
Education Fees, Internet and Cable TV, as well as E-Samsat product transactions on Mitra Tokopedia increased sharply by 4x its average
“In addition to providing benefits to individuals and traditional business owners, Mitra Tokopedia also continues to help communities who are still facing challenges in accessing digital products by enabling them an easier access to buy digital products from individuals or traditional business owners (including stalls) who have joined Mitra Tokopedia,” said Carlo.
Communities in more than 700 cities and regencies in Indonesia can access various digital products such as credit, data packages, game vouchers, electricity tokens, national healthcare bills, education fees and other digital products, through individuals or traditional business owners who joined Mitra Tokopedia.
“Biaya Pendidikan, Internet dan TV Kabel, and E-Samsat are a number of digital products with the fastest growth in the first quarter of 2023 at Mitra Tokopedia compared to the same period in 2022, with an average transaction increase of nearly 4x,” said Carlo.
Thanks to Mitra Tokopedia, Sidoarjo-based stall owner recovers from the pandemic, earning tens of millions daily and empowering thousands of people
Aditya Hermawan Sanjaya started his business during his university days. At first, he sold phone vouchers but as technology developed, Aditya also adapted. Today, Aditya has an offline stall in Sidoarjo, namely Barokah Cell, that sells various digital products ranging from phone credit vouchers, data packages, bills such as electricity and national healthcare bills as well as other digital products.
“During the pandemic, my stall’s overall profit and transactions dropped drastically. I had to find a way to keep selling. Finally in 2022, I joined Mitra Tokopedia. The Mitra Tokopedia application helped me recover. Now my shop’s turnover can reach tens of millions of rupiah per day thanks to Mitra Tokopedia,” said Aditya.
Aditya also empowered thousands of local communities to sell digital products. He often educates local residents regarding the added value of the Mitra Tokopedia application, which can also service E-Samsat and Land and Building Tax payments, so residents don’t have to go too far to access these public services.
During this month of Ramadan, Mitra Tokopedia is promoting the KETUPAT (Kembali Untung Dahsyat) or Back to Profits campaign in appreciation of the individuals and traditional businesses who use Mitra Tokopedia with a total prize of up to Rp100 million. This campaign contains a variety of programs, one of which is THR Misi Rejeki (THR Fortune Mission). Aditya is one of the winners.
Minahasa, Raja Ampat, and South Manokwari become regions with the highest increase in digital product transactions at Mitra Tokopedia
“Going forward, Mitra Tokopedia and all its strategic partners will continue to focus on accelerating the democratization of commerce in Indonesia. We believe that this can only be realized if there is collaboration and innovation,” said Carlo.
For example, Digitalization of Warung is where Tokopedia collaborates with the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs of the Republic of Indonesia to encourage the adoption of digital platforms for the business development of stall owners.
Mitra Tokopedia also makes it easier to access public services such as property tax (PBB) and E-Samsat to help increase state revenues. “PBB and E-Samsat transactions at Mitra Tokopedia each increased by almost 1.5x in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022,” added Carlo.
In addition, Mitra Tokopedia is accelerating the realization of financial inclusion with the Digital Wallet product category, so that people can more easily, safely and comfortably top-up digital wallets.
Through various collaborations and innovations, Mitra Tokopedia recorded Sabu Raijua (NTT), Kaimana (West Papua) and Mappi (South Papua) as regions with the highest increase in the number of digital product sellers at Mitra Tokopedia in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022, with an average increase of almost 3x.
“We noted that Minahasa (North Sulawesi), Raja Ampat (West Papua) and South Manokwari (West Papua) are some of the areas with the highest increase in digital product transactions at Mitra Tokopedia in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022, with an average increase of 5.5x,” said Carlo.
“Tokopedia will continuously review the Mitra Tokopedia business so that it can better meet the needs of users, especially individuals and traditional business owners across Indonesia,” concluded Carlo.
