Farmers, Pre-Employment Cardholders Kickstart Online Business Boom After Participating in Entrepreneurship Training by T

Indonesia, June 3, 2022 – As the link between Pre-Employment Card training class providers and communities in need, Tokopedia has found that there is a high level of enthusiasm among Indonesians to participate in entrepreneurship training. Many of these participants, including farmers with successful online businesses, saw immediate benefits from the training.

"Thanks to the collaboration between Tokopedia, the Government, and educational institutions, we have organized more than 550 training classes, which to date have been attended by millions of Pre-Employment Cardholders from a wide range of backgrounds, including farmers,” revealed Tokopedia’s Director of Public Policy and Government Relations, Astri Wahyuni.

Tokopedia also worked together with its strategic partner, the Pre-Employment Card Program Implementing Management (MPPKP), as well as various training institutions, to provide training for Pre-Employment Card recipients in fields such as business, IT and data, finance, marketing, photography, beauty, personal development, food and beverage, and many others.

“We appreciate Tokopedia's continued efforts to help Pre-Employment Card recipients succeed as entrepreneurs. The fact that farmers who have received Pre-Employment Cards can now start their own online businesses proves that the digital on-demand pre-employment card system is effective in equipping the recipients with the skills that they need, regardless of their background. This is definitely a breakthrough," explained Denni Puspa Purbasari, Executive Director of the Pre-Employment Card Program Implementing Management.

Harmin from West Pasaman, West Sumatra has greatly benefited from this training. Because of the economic downturn caused by the pandemic, Harmin, who works as a farmer, started making lukah (fishing tackle) and received training on online sales tips for MSMEs. Since then, he has been successfully selling his lukah online, increasing his daily income.

Sahmi Wani from West Sumatra province is also a farmer who benefited from the training program, especially since the pandemic has had a significant impact on her family's economy. After receiving Pre-Retirement Card benefits and taking online sales training for SMEs, Sahmi Wani also bought and raised some chickens. Today, Sahmi Wani's poultry business has started to grow, and she began selling chicken eggs online.

Tokopedia also continues to offer even more convenience to Pre-Employment Card participants by providing (1) easier and faster access to training certificate checking through the Tokopedia website, (2) a range of attractive training opportunities for MPPKP and Pre-Employment Cardholders, and (3) faster assistance to training activation from institutions.

"By providing various training for Pre-Retirement Card recipients, we want to ensure that the educational needs of the community are easily met, especially to increase the capacity and productivity of the community in adapting to this pandemic," concluded Astri.
