Innovations In the Era of Social Commerce, 'Tokopedia Play' and 'Tokopedia Affiliate' Note Various Achievements

Jakarta, August 26, 2022 – Tokopedia, an Indonesian technology company and part of the GoTo Group, has strived for 13 years to advance everyday use of technology in an attempt to make finding and starting anything, as well as achieving more, easier.

“Some of our tech optimizations, especially in this era of social commerce, are Tokopedia Play, our video streaming channel that connects buyers and sellers through unique shows and offerings, and Tokopedia Affiliate Program, enabling users a chance at extra income by recommending products from Tokopedia,” Tokopedia’s Head of Sales Operation & Product, Nirmala Rahmawati Hapsari said.

‘Tokopedia Play’ Sees Transaction Growth By More Than Three Times

Launched in 2018, the Tokopedia Play video streaming provides customers the chance to shop–through unique shows such as live shopping, culinary, sports, creativity, and many others–and be inspired simultaneously, or vice versa. They can further interact directly with sellers to learn more about product details and benefit from special deals.

"Those added values further contribute to Tokopedia Play's transaction growth by more than three times in the past six months, compared to the previous six. Makassar, Denpasar, Indramayu, Jambi, and Balikpapan became some areas with the highest transaction growth," Hapsari explained.

Sellers, on the other hand, can use Tokopedia Play to raise brand awareness, improve sales, and access educational modules that can help their stores grow. "Over the past six months, the number of sellers using Tokopedia Play has more than tripled, compared to the previous six," Hapsari continued.

Some areas with the highest growth in the number of sellers on Tokopedia Play include Pekalongan, Denpasar, Medan, Bandung, and Semarang. Meanwhile, some areas with the highest growth in the number of buyers are Klaten, Cilegon, Madiun, Tegal, and Tasikmalaya.

Health, Beauty, Food and Beverages, Household, and Fashion were among the most popular categories on Tokopedia Play in the past year.

Hundreds of Thousands of ‘Tokopedia Affiliates’ Are Now Registered

Through the Tokopedia Affiliate program, people can register as Affiliates and promote on their social media millions of products on Tokopedia using special links. The Affiliate will receive a commission of up to 10% if the product is successfully sold through the special link.

In addition to providing Affiliates a chance at higher income, the Tokopedia Affiliate program also assists Tokopedia sellers in market expansion and sales growth. Furthermore, the program enables the people access to products recommended by Affiliates, such as trustworthy relatives or friends.

"Since its launch in March 2022, the number of registered Affiliates has reached hundreds of thousands. Bogor, Jayawijaya, and Sidoarjo districts became some of the areas with the highest growth in the number of registered Tokopedia Affiliates in the past three months, compared to the previous three,” Hapsari stated.

Moreover, Beauty, Health, Food and Beverage, Mobile Phones and Tablets, and Mom and Baby are some of the most recommended and shared categories on social media by registered Tokopedia Affiliates.

“Now in our 13th year, we hope registered Tokopedia Affiliates will continue to collaborate and support our MSMEs to adapt with digitalization with Tokopedia--especially since Tokopedia has approximately 12 million sellers, 100% of whom are MSMEs,” concluded Hapsari.
