Indonesia, August 12, 2021 – Welcoming National MSME Day, Tokopedia through Mitra Tokopedia continues to focus on accelerating the adoption of digital platforms for traditional businesses, including owners of stalls, grocery stores and similar businesses, even in the midst of the pandemic.
Head of New Retail Tokopedia, Karina Susilo, said, “For almost three years, Mitra Tokopedia has helped millions of traditional businesses serve tens of millions of people in more than 500 cities/districts throughout Indonesia.”
The number of additional cities and regencies that have been reached by Mitra Tokopedia has more than doubled compared to the last two years. “Even now Mitra Tokopedia has reached Purwokerto, Jember, West Medan, Tegal to Banjarmasin,” Karina added.
Traditional MSMEs can develop their business even in the midst of a pandemic through a series of features on Mitra Tokopedia, including the Wholesale feature, the Digital Product Sales feature to the Record Debt feature, which can help shop owners manage bookkeeping digitally.
“Mitra Tokopedia also recently launched the State Revenue Payment feature, which allows the public to pay taxes and state revenues, ranging from PBB, SBN, Online Taxes, Customs, PNBP and many others, directly through stalls,” explained Karina.
According to Tokopedia’s October 2020 research, traditional businesses that adopt Mitra Tokopedia (Mitra) have experienced various positive impacts. 5 out of 10 MSMEs can have additional savings. On the other hand, almost 80% of MSMEs get additional profits more than 2x.
Erni, who has been a Wholesale Mitra in Palembang since 2019, is one example. “Besides wholesale products, I also sell digital products, such as credit, data packages and electricity tokens. My turnover has now increased by 2x compared to before using Mitra Tokopedia,” said Erni.
Erni, who also plays a role as a single parent, said that this shop is the main source of income for the family, “I can use the income from the shop to buy household needs, send my children to school and help my parents.”
In addition, Patria Ismalinda who has joined as a Digital Mitra in Papua since 2021 said, “The ease of buying digital products through Mitra Tokopedia brings more customers. My shop’s turnover has almost doubled. Especially during the pandemic, credit and data packages have become a necessity for working and studying from home.”
“We hope that all professions in Indonesia, including shop owners, can evolve into ‘technology companies’ through the Mitra Tokopedia ecosystem so that they can always be relevant to the times,” concluded Karina.
