Palembang, January 14, 2022 – Public enthusiasm in supporting business activities in Indonesia, particularly local MSMEs, through the Tokopedia platform is at an all-time high. "Denpasar, Makassar, and Palembang are three regions with the highest recorded increase in sellers throughout 2021 compared to 2020," explained Tokopedia's Head of Regional Growth Expansion (RGX), Trian Nugroho.
In Palembang, the categories that experienced the highest increase in transactions throughout 2021 were Mom & Baby and Kids’ Fashion, Household, Health and Personal Care, and Fashion. Many MSMEs in Palembang even recorded a more than 3 times increase in average transactions during the year.
Throughout the pandemic, Palembang’s Pempek Cek Dung has succeeded in raising its income by tens of millions by using Tokopedia. The owner of Pempek Cek Dung also regularly participates in Tokopedia’s various training programs to maximize sales.
This massive increase in sales was primarily driven by a series of Hyperlocal initiatives carried out by Tokopedia throughout 2021 designed to bring buyers closer to the nearest merchants and provide local MSMEs with the same opportunity to grow.
Several programs derived from the Hyperlocal initiative include Waktu Indonesia Belanja (WIB) Lokal, Kumpulan Toko Pilihan (KTP), Bangga Buatan Indonesia, and many others.
Through the Kumpulan Toko Pilihan (KTP) program, which utilizes geo-tagging technology, the public can easily obtain a variety of local MSME products, ranging from household needs, fashion, beauty, food and beverages, and many others, from nearby areas.
