Jakarta, 19 May 2021 – Indonesians’ high enthusiasm in fulfilling their needs, sharing kindness and praying from home during Ramadan 2021 can be seen from some of Tokopedia’s interesting findings.
External Communications Senior Lead Tokopedia, Ekhel Chandra Wijaya revealed, “Our internal data shows that Same-day or Instant delivery is the go-to courier service choice for people when shopping for Ramadan needs. If accumulated, users can even save up to 24,000 years of delivery time thanks to this service.”
Most Popular Products During Ramadan on Tokopedia
Tokopedia also noted Furniture and Home Appliances, Health and Personal Care as well as Muslim Fashion as the three most popular categories during Ramadan. “Especially for the Muslim Fashion category, transactions have increased nearly 4x compared to the monthly average in 2021,” explained Ekhel.
On the other hand, Ramadan parcels transactions increased more than 3x during Tokopedia’s ‘Parsel Ramadhan’ campaign compared to the month before the campaign. It would take more than 2 years for a cashier to complete all the Ramadan parcel orders sold through Tokopedia.
In general, more than 100,000 different products are sold every hour on Tokopedia during Ramadan.
Halal Food Local MSMEs Saw Increase in Transactions of Almost 6x
Tokopedia also makes it easier for people to buy halal-certified products through the Tokopedia Salam ecosystem. Rendang Den Lapeh, one of the halal food MSMEs, also recorded an increase in transactions nearly 6x during Ramadan 2021 when compared to last Ramadan 2020.
The convenience of finding halal-certified products is due to Tokopedia Salam’s collaboration with the Halal Products Certification Agency (BPJPH) as the official halal certificate issuing authority from the government and The Assessment Institute for Foods, Drugs And Cosmetics, the Indonesian Council of Ulama (LPPOM MUI) as the Halal Inspection Agency (LPH).

During Ramadan 2021, sharing kindness from home continues to be a trend. This is seen from the amount of Zakat, Donations and Waqf collected on the Tokopedia platform that reach IDR 13 billion.
People can also pray through the Digital Al-Qur’an feature and Prayer Times on Tokopedia Salam. “Since first launched, monthly active users of Prayer Times have increased by almost 12 times, while monthly active users of Digital Al-Qur’an have increased more than 35 times,” Ekhel explained.
Tokopedia’s Ramadan Event Watched by Half of Indonesian TV Viewers
Tokopedia WIB TV Show ‘Spesial Ramadan Extra’ held on 23 April 2021 was filled with special performances by national artists such as Iwan Fals, NOAH, Afghan and international artists such as The Boyz and Tokopedia brand ambassador, BTS. This event was watched by half of the TV audience throughout Indonesia.
“Our internal data also shows that it would take more than 600,000 aircrafts to transport all of Tokopedia visitors in Ramadan 2021,” Ekhel concluded.
