Banjarnegara, 1 December 2025 – Tokopedia and TikTok Shop by Tokopedia (TikTok Shop), together with the Banjarnegara Regency Government, are supporting the Ministry of Cooperatives and MSMEs’ local empowerment initiative, "Juragan UMKM," by training 200 MSMEs in Banjarnegara, Central Java (29/11/2026), to master video content creation in order to boost sales and contribute to the digital economy through "Creators Lab."
Indonesia’s digital economy reached an impressive value of approximately IDR 1,497 trillion in 2024 and is projected to surge to around IDR 6,654 trillion by 2030. However, as of July 2024, only 24.9% of Indonesia’s 64.2 million MSMEs were digitally connected. This shows significant untapped potential for MSMEs to contribute more actively to the country’s digital economy.
“This is the basis for our collaboration with strategic partners, including government stakeholders. We aim to drive the use of digital platforms among more MSMEs, including those in Banjarnegara. Through Creators Lab, we equip MSMEs with the skills to produce video content—both short videos and livestreams—to accelerate their business growth,” said Senior Director of Tokopedia and TikTok E-commerce Indonesia, Vonny Ernita Susamto. Transactions for certain sellers on Tokopedia and TikTok Shop have increased 30-fold through livestreaming and 31-fold through short videos.
Assistant Deputy for Marketing and Digitalization of the Ministry of Cooperatives and MSMEs of the Republic of Indonesia, Ari Hanindya Hartika, said, “MSMEs contribute 61.9% to national GDP and absorb around 97% of Indonesia’s workforce. We appreciate Tokopedia and TikTok Shop’s ongoing commitment to boosting digital adoption among MSMEs in Indonesia by supporting our Juragan UMKM program through Creators Lab. We believe that creative video production and effective selling skills can help MSME entrepreneurs sell comfortably, drive progress, and deliver value to consumers across the country.”
Regent of Banjarnegara, Amalia Desiana, stated, “Banjarnegara MSMEs are strong in agriculture, culinary products, and handicrafts, but digital promotion is not yet maximized. With training from Tokopedia and TikTok Shop, the knowledge gained in creative content production can help MSMEs communicate their products more attractively, reach a wider audience, and prioritize safe and enjoyable shopping experiences for today’s consumers. We hope this effort contributes to helping Banjarnegara MSMEs expand into the national market.”
During the event, Tokopedia and TikTok Shop also presented donations to the Regent of Banjarnegara from Tokopedia users, collected through Rumah Zakat, for victims of a landslide disaster in Pandanarum District, Banjarnegara Regency. Donations were provided in the form of household equipment and basic supplies for public kitchens.
Participation in Creators Lab Tokopedia & TikTok Shop Triples
The number of Creators Lab participants in Q3 2025 tripled compared to the previous year, indicating the high relevance of Creators Lab amid the rise of discovery commerce, where video content plays a pivotal role in influencing purchasing decisions online.
Since launching last year, Creators Lab has empowered nearly 3,000 participants from various regions and backgrounds—including housewives in ministries’ MSME development programs, tourism polytechnic students, members of the Difabel Berdaya Solo community, MSME owners, and many others—who are inspired to become professional content creators. In addition to learning about content creation and practical video production, participants receive training on affiliate principles to monetize video content.
One MSME entrepreneur who attended Creators Lab in Padang (29/4/2025), Pearly Nurhasnah, owner of Lumina Pearl Gallery, said, “Through video content, it’s easier for us to explain our brand and product strengths, while ensuring a safe shopping experience for buyers. Beyond smooth selling, our revenue has grown substantially—sales on Tokopedia and TikTok Shop increased 200–350% after producing video content.”
Creativity Lab participants from MSME backgrounds also received training on intellectual property (IP) to ensure they can #SellSafely on Tokopedia and TikTok Shop. Topics included understanding IP violations—such as using another brand’s photos, titles, or descriptions without permission—and related risks, features to protect IP, and information about the IP Protection Center. Participants were also encouraged to obtain “Power Shop” or “Mall” status to strengthen visibility and credibility.
Winda Muchni Lestari, owner of Cemilanel and participant of Creators Lab Banjarnegara (29/11/2026), shared, “Thanks to TikTok Shop, I can now generate revenue reaching billions of rupiah and empower 350 local residents in my village. Through Creators Lab, my knowledge has grown even further. I now understand the importance of intellectual property, from the use of product photos to descriptions. I’m also interested in upgrading my shop status to Power Shop or Mall so my business looks more professional and earns greater buyer trust on Tokopedia and TikTok Shop.”
