Tokopedia Ungkap Tren Hobi Selama Pandemi

Indonesia, 21 Januari 2021 – Pandemi mendorong masyarakat menjadi semakin kreatif dalam mengisi waktu luang selama lebih banyak di rumah. Salah satunya menggeluti beragam hobi serta kegiatan baru demi meningkatkan produktivitas. 

“Tokopedia #SelaluAdaSelaluBisa mempermudah masyarakat memenuhi kebutuhan harian bahkan menciptakan peluang dengan hobi baru yang muncul selama pandemi. Salah satunya melalui kampanye Waktu Indonesia Belanja (WIB) yang diadakan setiap tanggal 25 hingga akhir setiap bulan,” ungkap External Communications Senior Lead Tokopedia, Ekhel Chandra Wijaya.

Tokopedia pun membagikan beberapa temuan menarik berkaitan dengan tren hobi selama 2020 yang dapat menginspirasi masyarakat dalam mengisi waktu luang di tahun ini.

  1. Olahraga – Berdasarkan pembelian di Tokopedia, bersepeda, fitness, memancing, mendaki dan berkemah, serta sepakbola atau futsal menjadi olahraga yang digemari masyarakat selama 2020. Terlihat dari peningkatan transaksi pada kategori Sports & Hobbies di Tokopedia menjadi hampir 2x lipat jika dibandingkan dengan 2019.
  2. Membaca Buku – Selain berolahraga, kegiatan membaca pun semakin diminati selama pandemi. Buku tentang religi, pengembangan diri, novel dan sastra serta buku remaja dan anak masih menjadi beberapa kategori buku yang paling populer di Tokopedia selama 2020. Transaksi pada subkategori Buku juga mengalami peningkatan hampir 2x lipat. 
  3. Berkebun – Selain menambah estetika serta kesejukan rumah, berkebun juga bermanfaat untuk menyegarkan pikiran, sehingga menjadi salah satu hobi banyak masyarakat selama pandemi. Tokopedia mencatatkan kenaikan transaksi lebih dari 4x lipat pada subkategori Taman sepanjang 2020 jika dibandingkan 2019. 
  4. Melukis – Melukis ternyata menjadi tren baru di kala pandemi. Paint by numbers, contohnya, terus diminati masyarakat karena teknik melukis yang mengikuti angka pada gambar sangat memudahkan bagi para pemula untuk menghasilkan lukisan yang indah.

Tingginya minat masyarakat terhadap hobi melukis ini terlihat dari kenaikan penjualan yang signifikan pada subkategori Office & Stationery di Tokopedia yang mencapai hampir 2x lipat selama 2020.

Hobi melukis juga mulai ditekuni salah satu personil BTS, Suga, selama pandemi. Bahkan Suga pernah melukis secara live lewat akun Youtube BTS yang disaksikan oleh jutaan fansnya.

5. Memasak – Di acara Tokopedia WIB TV Show pada November 2020, salah satu personil BLACKPINK, Lisa, mengaku bahwa memasak menjadi hobi baru yang ia tekuni selama pandemi. Dalam kesempatan yang sama, Jennie juga membagikan tips dalam mengatur api untuk memasak nasi goreng kimchi yang enak.

Hobi memasak pun terus digemari masyarakat di tengah pandemi. Hal ini terlihat pada penjualan kategori Home & Living di Tokopedia yang meningkat lebih dari 2x lipat selama 2020 jika dibandingkan dengan tahun sebelumnya.

Tokopedia Reveals Hobby Trends During the Pandemic

Indonesia, 21 January 2021 – The current pandemic has encouraged Indonesians to be more creative in spending their spare time at home. One of them is cultivating various hobbies and finding new activities to increase one’s productivity.

“Tokopedia is #AlwaysPresentAlwaysAble in making it easier for people to fulfill their daily needs and even create opportunities through new hobbies that emerged during the pandemic. One of them is through the Waktu Indonesia Belanja (WIB) campaign which is held every 25th until the end of every month,” said External Communications Senior Lead of Tokopedia, Ekhel Chandra Wijaya.

Tokopedia also shared some interesting findings related to hobby trends during 2020 that can inspire people to fill their spare time this year.

  1. Sports – Based on purchases on Tokopedia, cycling, fitness, fishing, hiking and camping, as well as football or futsal are popular sports during 2020. It can be seen from the increase in transactions in the Sports & Hobbies category on Tokopedia to almost 2x when compared to 2019.
  1. Reading Books – Apart from exercising, reading has become increasingly popular during the pandemic. Books on religion, self-development, novels and literature as well as youth and children’s books were still some of the most popular book categories on Tokopedia during 2020. Transactions in the Books sub-category also experienced an almost 2x increase.
  1. Gardening – Apart from adding to the aesthetics of the house, gardening is also helpful for refreshing the mind, so that it has become one of the hobbies of many people during a pandemic. Tokopedia recorded an increase in transactions of more than 4x in the Park sub-category throughout 2020 when compared to 2019.
  1. Painting – Painting turned out to be a new trend during the pandemic. Paint-by-numbers, for example, continues to attract the public’s attention as it was very easy for beginners to produce beautiful paintings, only by following and painting the numbers on the canvas.

The high public interest in the hobby of painting can be seen from the significant increase in sales in the Office & Stationery sub-category in Tokopedia, which has almost doubled in 2020.

Suga, one of the BTS’ member, also began pursuing painting as a hobby during the pandemic. Suga even painted live through the BTS Youtube account which was watched by millions of his fans.

  1. Cooking – At Tokopedia’s WIB TV Show in November 2020, one of BLACKPINK’s member, Lisa, admitted that cooking was a new hobby she had been pursuing during the pandemic. On the same occasion, Jennie shared tips on setting a fire to cook delicious kimchi fried rice.

Cooking continues to be a popular hobby with people in the midst of the pandemic. This can be seen in the sales of the Home & Living category on Tokopedia which increased more than 2x during 2020 when compared to the previous year.
